Five local artists featured in Fort St. John’s annual Public Art Banner program

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Five local emerging artists will soon see their work displayed across Fort St. John’s recreation campus as part of the city’s Annual Public Art Competition.

The initiative, a partnership between the City of Fort St. John and the FSJ Arts Council, invites emerging artists to create banner designs celebrating the many ways residents come together to play, connect and participate in the community.

This year’s featured artists are A. Pimm, C. Snow, M. Canon, S. Corbett and S. Zaldy.

Their artwork will be showcased on banners installed throughout the recreation campus, including the Co-op Community Centre, North Peace Leisure Pool, North Peace Arena and Kids Arena Fieldhouse.

Organizers say the annual competition provides local artists with an opportunity to share their creativity while contributing to the visual identity of the community.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside the city and participating artists throughout the project. She congratulated the artists for bringing their creative visions to life and said the banners will allow their work to be shared with residents across Fort St. John,”said Grace Hill, Executive Director of the FSJ Arts Council.

The Arts Council is also encouraging residents to view the banners and share which design resonates most with them for a chance to win tickets to its upcoming Art Auction.

The new banners are expected to be installed around the recreation campus in the coming weeks.
