DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - The Dawson Creek Kodiaks came up short on home ice Friday night, falling 5-1 to the Fairview Flyers at the Ovintiv Events Centre.
After a scoreless opening period, the Flyers broke through early in the second when Fairview’s Pittman opened the scoring.
The Kodiaks answered less than three minutes later as Mathieu Bouchard notched his seventh goal of the season to tie the game 1-1.
That would be as close as Dawson Creek would get. Fairview responded with two more second-period goals to take a 4-1 lead into the final frame.
The Flyers added a power-play marker midway through the third securing the 5-1 victory.
Despite the loss, the Kodiaks outshot Fairview 28-21.
The game featured plenty of physical play, with multiple misconducts and fighting majors assessed late in the third period.
Fairview finished 1-for-12 on the power play, while Dawson Creek was held scoreless on 14 opportunities with the man advantage.
The Kodiaks will get a chance at redemption Wednesday, when they host the Flyers in a rematch at the Ovintiv Events Centre.
