An ‘Extreme Cold Warning’ has been issued for the Peace Region by Environment Canada.

The weather agency said the wind chill will be close to minus 40 on Monday and Tuesday morning across the region, including Fort St. John and Dawson Creek.

Very cold temperatures combined with light northwesterly winds will continue to bring very cold wind chill values to Northeast BC.

Temperatures will warm during the daytime but overnight and into the mornings, will continue to see extreme wind chill values.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly by Wednesday. The low is expected to be minus 18.

Environment Canada said extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up because frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s also too cold for your pet to stay outside.
