The Evacuation Alert for the Summit Lake Wildfire has been updated as the fire burns out of control, west of Fort Nelson.
Because of the potential danger to life and health, the Northern Rockies Regional has updated an Evacuation Alert, along the Alaska Highway corridor from Summit Lake Campground to the Steamboat Mountain Brake Check.
The Evacuation Order that was in place for the Tetsa River area was rescinded on Monday .
The fire had been burning on both side of the Alaska Highway. The highway has re-opened to traffic after a number of closures due to the wildfire.
The fire was discovered on May 28 and is believed to be human caused. It has grown to 81,358 hectares in size and is now the only ‘wildfire of note’ in British Columbia.
