The Evacuation Alert for the Summit Lake Wildfire has been rescinded, however the wildfire is still burning out of control, west of Fort Nelson.
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality said the risk to life and safety in the area has passed. The Evacuation Order that was in place for the Tetsa River area was rescinded on Monday .
The fire had been burning on both side of the Alaska Highway. The highway has re-opened to traffic after a number of closures due to the wildfire.
The fire was discovered on May 28 is believed to be human caused. It has grown to 81,358 hectares in size and is one of three ‘wildfires of note’ in British Columbia.
