Two emergency departments in Northeast BC had service interruptions due to staffing challenges over the weekend.
The Fort St. John Hospital emergency department was shut down Friday night from 9 pm to 7 am the next morning.
The emergency department at Fort Nelson General Hospital was also on diversion Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm.
Both hospitals experienced their first ER closures of 2026, and it was the first closure at Fort St. John Hospital since Christmas Day.
Northern Health advised residents needing life-threatening emergency care to call 911 to be transported to the nearest available facility.
