Emergency Warming Centre to stay open until Tuesday as Dawson Creek extends extreme weather response

With a cold stretch settling in the Peace Region, the City of Dawson Creek is extended its extreme weather response.

The Emergency Warming Centre at the Nawican Friendship Centre will remain open until at least March 3rd. It was opened on February 16th due to frigid conditions.

The centre is located at 1401 102 Avenue and will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The shelter is activated when the forecast shows -10°C or colder for more than 24 hours.

Temperatures are expected to reach –25 °C on Friday. However, windchill values will make it feel closer to –30°C .

Environment Canada is also calling for low temperatures of –10°C or colder until at least next Wednesday.
