The Emergency Department at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital is on diversion for the second time this week.

Northern Health took to social media to announce the closure around 1:00 pm Wednesday afternoon, but did not say when the diversion started.

The service interruption is expected to continue until 10:00 pm Wednesday due to ‘staffing challenges.’ The ER was also on diversion for 14 hours on Monday.

In a notice to residents, Northern Health says that partners in patient transfer and local health services have been notified, and signage will be placed at the hospital.

Patients in need of life-threatening emergency care are advised to call 9-1-1 to be transported to the nearest available hospital in Fort St. John or the nearest available hospital.
