The Emergency Department at the Chetwynd Hospital is on diversion once again. The closure marks the fifth diversion of 2026 for the community.
Northern Health said that ER services are being interrupted between 7:00am Tuesday to 8:00am Wednesday.
The health authority announced the closure on social media and on its new Emergency Department Statue webpage.
Residents who are in need of live saving care are being reminded to still call 9-1-1. You will be transported to the nearest available hospital.
The chronic staffing shortages that have plagued Northern Health for the past five years, are once again being blamed for the closure.
The Emergency Department in Chetwynd was closed over 20 times last year.
