The driver of an SUV is dead after colliding with a tanker truck in northern British Columbia on Monday.
First responders were called to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 north of Fort St. John at approximately 1:42 p.m., according to a statement from the Fort St. John RCMP.
Investigators determined the southbound SUV failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with 269 Road and was struck by the truck, which was turning left onto the highway.
The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.
The highway was closed while crash investigators completed their examination of the scene.
The family of the deceased has since been notified, according to the statement.
