A transport truck towing a sea can bypassed a weigh station on Highway #97 near Fort Nelson, according to the BC Highway Patrol.
When an officer saw the truck drive by, he intercepted the driver and escorted the truck and trailer back to the weigh station.
“A roadside inspection found that the sea can full of heavy furniture was not properly secured to the trailer,” said Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol.
The trailer was also overweight, two trailer tires were bald and deformed, and the exhaust stacks on the truck were not heat-shielded to prevent a person from getting burned.

The driver was issued three tickets:
- Operate vehicle with gross weight exceeding manufacturer’s weight rating, section 19.11(1) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act Regulations ($109);
- Driver operates non-commercial vehicle with insecure cargo, section 35.03(4) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act (MVA), with a fine of $173;
- Exhaust system located where person may be burned, section 219(1) of the BC MVA ($109).
The trailer itself was issued a Notice and Order and removed from the road for a Commercial Vehicle Inspection. The driver was required to pay for the tow, the inspection and all repairs
“Details matter when it comes to road safety,” said Corporal McLaughlin. Keep your loads and vehicles safe and you will avoid tragedy, along with unwanted attention from BC Highway Patrol.
