WorkSafe BC has fined the Fort St. John Dollar Tree store just under $129,500 for a series of ‘high-risk violations.’
WorkSafe said they observed “multiple health and safety deficiencies” at the store located on 98A Avenue.
WorkSafe said the store failed to ensure material and equipment was stacked on storage racks in a stable and secure way. The store also failed to clearly display the storage capacity of the racks. The firm failed to perform a violence risk assessment, all high-risk violation.
WorkSafe BC added that Dollar Tree committed a series of repeated violations. The report went on to say that the store did not keep up-to-date written first aid procedures. Management also did not provide workers with information, training, and supervision to ensure their health and safety.
Dollar Tree also failed to provide a safe working space around electrical equipment.
