The city of Dawson Creek has won a tourism award after a successful hosting of the 2025 Para Cup at the Ovintiv Events Centre.
Dawson Creek won the “International Sport Event of the Year – Group B,” for events under $2 million.
The award was presented by Sport Tourism Canada and is part of the PRESTIGE Awards that celebrate Canada’s top sport tourism events and initiatives.
“The International Sport Event of the Year Award recognizes the overall success of an outstanding international sport event held in Canada in 2025,” the city said in a press release.
Mayor Darcy Dober says this accolade is a tremendous honour for the community, adding, “Hosting the Para Cup showed what’s possible when a community comes together.”
The city was also a finalist for “Sport Event Legacy of the Year.” Dober says the success of tournament is the result of great partnerships across the region.
