DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - The City of Dawson Creek is adding more green space throughout the community with the planting of more than 150 new trees.
The city said crews are working in parks and green spaces across Dawson Creek, planting a variety of tree species over the coming weeks.
The new trees are intended to provide shade, fill open areas and enhance the appearance of public spaces throughout the community.
According to the city, the project is designed to improve municipal green spaces through the installation of trees in both individual planting pits and larger planting beds.
Residents can expect to see city staff and contractors working in parks and other public areas as the planting program continues.
The city says the effort is aimed at creating greener and more vibrant outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy now and in the future.
While the newly planted trees may be small today, city officials say they will become an important part of Dawson Creek’s landscape as they mature and grow over the years.
The tree planting initiative is one of several projects funded through the city’s 2026 Capital Program.
