DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - A Dawson Creek man is $100,000 richer after discovering he held a winning MAXPLUS ticket from a recent Lotto Max draw.
According to the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Ariel L. won a $100,000 MAXPLUS prize from the August 18, 2026 Lotto Max draw after checking his ticket early one morning.
The Dawson Creek resident said he was prompted to look at his ticket after seeing a social media post about a winning lottery ticket.
“It was 6:30 a.m. and I was sitting at my dining table,” said Ariel. “I saw on a Facebook group someone had won $100,000. I took my ticket out of my wallet and checked it on the BCLC Lotto! App and saw it won $100,000.”
He said the first people he shared the news with were his wife and son.
“I woke up my son to tell him, since he was still sleeping. I told him I won the lottery and he thought I was faking it,” he recalled.
While he has no immediate plans to celebrate, Ariel said the winnings could help fund a family trip to the Philippines during Christmas or spring break.
Asked how it feels to win, he described the experience simply.
“It’s a blessing. I want to help all my people.”
BCLC said the winning ticket was purchased at the Dawson Co-op on 8th Street in Dawson Creek.
