The Dawson Creek RCMP is sounding the alarm about an ongoing issue with stolen quads.

Mounties said they are currently investigating a number of cases involving stolen off-road vehicles.

They said several investigations include suspects breaking into yards of industrial areas to steal vehicles.

Investigators said it’s difficult for officers to chase stolen quads on off-road trails, adding the vehicles are often used to commit further thefts.

Police noted that they recovered two stolen quads and one snowmobile since Thursday. They added that areas such as the Dangerous Goods Route, or the intersection of Highway 49 and Collins Road, are hot spots for suspicious activity related to the quads.

RCMP are urging Dawson Creek residents to report any concerning overnight quad activity. They also encourage people to secure their off-road vehicles out of sigh, in closed-off areas.
