The Dawson Creek RCMP said a report of a possible sexual assault was unfounded, after rumors circulated on social media.

Mounties said it was reported that three children were drugged, sexually assaulted, and left in a field in the Dawson Creek area.

A Facebook post alleged that three girls, ages 8 or 9, were picked up by a truck after school.

After conducting a thorough investigation, the RCMP found the offence was untrue and did not occur.

Police added there is no danger to the public and no further information will be released.
