With a cold stretch settling in the Peace Region, the City of Dawson Creek is opening its warming centre.
The city is operating the Emergency Warming Centre at the Nawican Friendship Centre, located at 1401 102 Avenue.
The shelter is activated when the forecast shows -10°C or colder for more than 24 hours.
Temperatures are expected to reach –16°C throughout Thursday, dropping to –22°C overnight.
However, windchill values are making it feel closer to –23°C in the city.
Environment Canada is also calling for temperatures of –10°C or colder until at least next Tuesday.
