Dawson Creek, B.C. - A local nurse is helping Dawson Creek families plan their trick-or-treating routes this Halloween by creating a map showing decorated homes across the community.
Mercedes Vandenberg says she hopes the map will help families discover more Halloween displays and make trick-or-treating a more memorable experience for local children.
“I want everybody to be able to enjoy Halloween the way I love it and go all out,” Vandenberg says.
The idea came after Vandenberg moved to Dawson Creek from a larger community, where she remembers seeing more elaborate Halloween displays.
Vandenberg hopes her map makes it easier for families when they head out trick-or-treating October 31. She adds that it could also help people without easy access to a vehicle find Halloween displays closer to home.
By helping families find decorated homes around town, Vandenberg hopes more children can experience the excitement of Halloween night.
“I think it’s nice for kids to be able to have that spooky adrenaline when they’re walking up somebody’s property, going towards the door,” Vandenberg says.
Families looking to check out the Halloween displays can find the 17 participating homes listed below.
