RCMP allege Dawson Creek man found asleep at the wheel with drugs, weapons and a flame thrower

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP say they found a man slumped over the wheel in a vehicle, in the middle of the road early Saturday morning.

Police said they found Fraser Pearson sound asleep in the vehicle, with alleged drug paraphernalia in plain view.

According to investigators, a search of the vehicle incidental to the arrest resulted in the seizure of:

  • $2080 in Canadian currency
  • 99 grams of suspected methamphetamine;
  • 19 grams of suspected fentanyl;
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia;
  • A loaded crossbow;
  • A flame thrower; and
  • A prohibited knife.

Mounties say that some of the drugs were stored in a backpack labeled “Support your local drug dealer.

As a result of the investigation, the 40-year old Pearson is facing a number of charges including, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, 2 counts of weapons possession contrary to order and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Pearson was brought before a justice of the peace in Grande Prairie and remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
