DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - The Dawson Creek Kodiaks picked up a much-needed victory Wednesday night, defeating the Fairview Flyers 4-1 at the Ovintiv Events Centre.
The win improved Dawson Creek’s season record to 3-9 while ending a two-game losing streak.
The Kodiaks controlled much of the game, outshooting the Flyers 47-31 and getting a 30-save performance from goaltender Benjamin Bunting, who earned the win between the pipes.
Dawson Creek opened the scoring midway through the first period when Maddox Pierce converted on the power play at 11:29. Fairview answered just over a minute later to tie the game at 1-1.
The Kodiaks regained the lead before the end of the opening frame when defenceman Bryce Ganson scored what would stand as the game-winning goal at 18:31.
After a scoreless second period, Dawson Creek added insurance in the third.
Dawson Creek and Fairview have now split their last two meetings after the Flyers earned a 5-1 win over the Kodiaks on October 30.
The Kodiaks will look to build on the victory as they continue their NWJHL schedule this weekend on home ice against Fort St. John Saturday.
