The Dawson Creek Kodiaks are playing their part in supporting the ongoing recovery of Dawson Creek firefighter Captain Brooks Gower.

The team raised $4,255 during its November 8 home game. “Our fans came together in a big way,” the Kodiaks said.

The Dawson Creek Fire Fighters Association said on social media that they’re deeply grateful for the generosity of the Kodiaks and their fans.

“The strength, compassion, and unity shown by everyone during this difficult time has been truly overwhelming,” the association said.

Tryna Gower, Brooks’ wife, said he has arrived at Dawson Creek Hospital and is now focused on physiotherapy as he works toward walking again.

“We have no idea how long he’ll stay in the hospital, but hoping he’s at home for Christmas,” she said.

She noted that donations in Brooks’ name can be made to the Dawson Creek Fire Fighters Association via e-transfer to dcffcharitablesociety@gmail.com, with Capt. Gower included in the notes.
