The Dawson Creek Hospital.

The Emergency Department at the Dawson Creek and District Hospital is on diversion due to “staffing challenges”.

Northern Health announced on social media the closure around 6 pm Wednesday afternoon.

The service interruption started at 5:00 am and will continue until 3:00 pm Thursday due.

This is the second hospital diversion in the Northern Health region this week. The ER at Fort Nelson Hospital interrupted services overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.

In a notice to residents, Northern Health says that partners in patient transfer and local health services have been notified, and signage will be placed at the hospital.

Patients in need of life-threatening emergency care are advised to call 9-1-1 to be transported to the nearest available hospital in Fort St. John or the nearest available hospital.
