A Dawson Creek city councillor has taken some extraordinary strides to raise money for charity. Amy Kaempf ran 120 kilometres over a two-day period.

Kaempf is raising money for the Mile Zero Air Cadets Squadron #353 and for 100 Women Who Care.

Kaempf said on a few of the legs of her run that was hot and getting tired. “I just visualized myself laying on my front lawn being done.”

The charity run took place on July 11 and 12. Kaempf ran five kilometres an hour, for 12 hours each of the two days.

“I wanted to reach this goal and raise money for these charities, so there was no thought of quitting. I was going to keep going whether I had to crawl or walk,” said Kaempf.

It’s the third year in a row that Kaempf has run to raise money for charity. “There are some amazing non-profits groups in Dawson Creek, it has become an annual thing,” said Kaempf.

So far this year, Kaempf’s charity run has raised $710. She said her goal is to raise $2000.
