DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - The Dawson Creek and District Chamber of Commerce is inviting golfers and local businesses to hit the links later this month as it prepares to host the inaugural Chamber Classic Golf Tournament.
General admission team registrations are now open for the event, which will take place August 28 at the Dawson Creek Golf & Country Club.
Organizers say the tournament is designed not only as a fundraiser for the Chamber, but also as an opportunity for networking and community engagement.
Yvonne Barmettler with the Dawson Creek and District Chamber of Commerce said, the event will feature a shotgun-style tournament that is intended to be fun and accessible for golfers of all skill levels.
“We’re inviting anybody and everybody,” said Barmettler. “They can expect a fantastic day, fantastic evening, good food, good drinks, lots of laughter and just generally a great time.”
The Chamber Classic will include an 18-hole tournament, a $100,000 hole-in-one prize, skills competitions, dinner, drinks and a silent auction.
Organizers say players will also receive gift bags, while tournament contests will include long drive, putting and closest-to-the-pin challenges.
Team registration costs $550 for Chamber members and $600 for non-members. Registration includes dinner, two drink tickets per player and entry into the tournament’s prize holes.
Additional fundraising activities, including mulligans and rope sales, will also be available.
The Chamber is also seeking sponsors for the event, with sponsorship packages available for businesses interested in supporting the tournament.
Organizers note that vendors participating in the Chamber Classic will be exclusively from the Dawson Creek area.
The tournament is scheduled to begin at noon on August 28. More information and registration details are available through the Dawson Creek and District Chamber of Commerce.
