A mother is speaking out after troubling allegations have surfaced against a Dawson Creek bus driver.

The mother doesn’t want to be identified for fear of retribution. She told CJDC TV News that her child and other students have been left traumatized.

The mom claims the bus driver has been allegedly using vulgar and derogatory language in front of the children.

She also alleges that on Friday, the driver became threatening to the kids, telling them she would leave students in a snowbank during -20-degree weather.

In another instance, the mother claims the driver was speeding, then allegedly slammed on the brakes. She says her child hit its head and has since complained of headaches. Another child was said to have been thrown from her seat and injured her back.

The mother said the principal of her child’s school says, similar behavior has been happening since at least the beginning of the school year. The driver has been taken off the road for two days by the school district. The mom is worried the driver will be back to work on Wednesday morning.

The mother says none of the other parents have been notified by the district. She adds, “School District 59 seems more intent on protecting the employee than the student’s safety.”

The school district said that any allegations against students or staff are taken very seriously. An official with School District 59 said, they can’t comment for reasons of confidentiality, in order to protect students and staff.

CJDC TV News reached out to the Dawson Creek RCMP. They say they are aware of the alleged incidents.
