FORT ST. JOHN - Vista Radio has received approval from the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to buy 21 radio stations in British Columbia from Bell Media.
Vista will now own 70 radio stations, including CJDC in Dawson Creek, CHRX-FM (Move 98.5) and CKNL-FM (Bounce 101.5 FM) in Fort St. John and CKRX-FM (Bounce 102.3 FM) in Fort Nelson.
The official price tag for Vista’s purchase of the stations is set at $3,036,000.
The CRTC said the sale is “in the public interest, as it will help ensure that the stations continue to serve the various communities in BC.”
Other stations involved in the deal are Prince Rupert’s CHTK-FM, Kitimat’s CKTK-FM and CFTK and CJFW-FM in Terrace.
In February of 2024, Bell announced it was selling off 45 of its 103 regional radio stations. Stations in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada were also sold.
Bell Media is the parent company of CJDC TV News. The television station in Dawson Creek is not included in the sale.
