FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Longtime Fort St. John city councillor and businessman Trevor Bolin has officially launched his campaign to become the city’s next mayor.
Bolin said he is seeking the mayor’s chair after nearly two decades serving on Fort St. John city council.
“You are gifted the amazing honour of this temporary opportunity, by the proud people, who call this great city their home,” Bolin wrote. “I have been gifted a similar honour for the last 18 years serving this city and its people as a city councillor, and it’s far from over.”
Well-known businessman enters race
Bolin is one of the most recognizable business figures in Northeast B.C. He is the owner and president of Bolin Enterprises, a company involved in the hospitality and service industry throughout the region. Over the years, he has become a prominent voice on economic development, resource industries and business investment in northern British Columbia.
In addition to his municipal experience, Bolin also served as leader of the BC Conservative Party before stepping down from the role in 2023.
Campaign focused on growth and advocacy
In his announcement, Bolin emphasized economic prosperity, attracting business investment, public safety and stronger advocacy with provincial and federal governments.
Among the priorities listed in his campaign were family values, seniors advocacy, safer streets and neighbourhoods, council transparency and fiscal responsibility.
“We need to demand more from our Country, we need to ensure our Province knows we not only expect more, we deserve more,” Bolin said.
He also pledged to continue advocating for economic growth while ensuring residents benefit from future development.
“We need to ensure our businesses know we are open for them, just as they are for us and that our residents can live the lives they deserve in a community that appreciates them, builds for them and grows with them,” he wrote.
Looking ahead to October vote
Bolin said his family has called Fort St. John home for nearly a century and described his mayoral bid as an opportunity to build on the city’s past while preparing for its future.
Running under the slogan, “Fort St. John’s future built on OUR past,“Bolin is asking voters for their support in the municipal election scheduled for Octobter 17.
“I am humbly asking for your sixth time voting for me this October 17th; for the opportunity to be your Mayor, the People’s Mayor,” Bolin said.
Bolin is the first sitting Fort St. John councillor to publicly announce a campaign for mayor ahead of the 2026 municipal election.
Current Mayor Lilia Hansen announced her intention to seek a second term Tuesday.
