A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a pickup truck in Fort St. John Monday.

Mounties say that at 3:19 pm, officers responded to a report of collision involving a child riding a bike.

“A child was riding a bicycle at the intersection of 116th Ave and 86th Street when a pickup truck, making a right-hand turn onto 86th Street stuck the cyclist,” said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, RCMP Media Relations Officer.

The road was closed as officers conducted an on-scene investigation. The cyclist was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Police say the driver of the pickup remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
