The emergency department at the Chetwynd hospital was once again diversion due to ‘staffing challenges.’

The service interruption was announced via social media. The ER was closed on Thursday at 7:00am until Friday at 8:00am.

The health authority then announced the ER would closed once again, this time from Saturday at 7:00am until Sunday at 8:00am.

Northern Health is no longer informing residents whether the closure is the result of a doctor or nursing shortage.

Residents who are in need of life-saving medical care were being asked to call 9-1-1 to be transported to the nearest available hospital.
