Northern Health has announced a second emergency department diversion at Chetwynd Hospital in less than a week.

The health authority said services will be interrupted from 7 am Tuesday until 8 am Wednesday.

Officials said the emergency room will be closed for more than 24 hours due to staffing challenges.

On September 12, services at the Chetwynd ER were also shortly unavailable due to staffing issues.

Northern Health advised residents needing emergency care to call 911 to be transported to the nearest available facility.
