The 103rd Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede has come to an end, and close to $123,000 was awarded to cowboys and girls competing in this year’s pro rodeo.
Chance Bensmiller crossed the finish line first to win his second Chuckswagon ‘Battle of the North Championship ‘in Dawson Creek. He captured the title for the first time since 2008.
Bensmiller won with a penalty-free run of 1:13.17. He’s currently ranked 24th in the World Professional Chuckwagon Association standings.
The world’s number two ranked driver, Chanse Vigen, finished in second place, .47 seconds behind the winner.
Bensmiller and his outriders, Nolan Cameron and Brendan Nolin, took home a total of $22,000.
The Canadian Pro Rodeo Association also released the unofficial results for other events.
Auzyn Corr won the bull riding competition with 88 points riding on Jack The Ripper, followed by Ashton Sahli in second and Logan Biever in third.
Logan Hay claimed first place in the saddle bronc event, scoring 88 points. Steele DePaoli stopped the clock at 8.5 seconds to win the tie down roping competition.
