It’s been a whirlwind of a year for a professional bull rider from Fort St. John.
Jake Gardner is coming home to the Peace Region this weekend to compete in the SMS Equipment Canadian Pro Rodeo event, at the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede.
“I don’t really try to put too much pressure on myself, so I’m just I’m excited for it. Just the whole thing, it’s such a good thing for the community, the north country. Everyone kind of gathers together and gets to camp together. It’s just a fun time of year, “said Gardner
Gardner is currently in second place in the PBR Canada national standings. ”I started off the year really good and I have been able to stay consistent and healthy. I am looking to continue it for the rest of the season,” said Gardner
Gardner has competed in 27 events so far this season. He says he spends a lot of time in the gym and continues to do as much as he can to stay healthy.
While the bull rider is competing in four to five events a week this year, the Dawson Creek Rodeo in the one event he has had circled on his calendar.
“Just being able to be a part of that rodeo and compete in front of my friends and family. It’s probably the greatest thing for me about being there,” said Gardner.
Winning the Wainright Stampede and performing in Calgary are the season highlights ,so far for Gardner. The Peace Region product looks to add to an already outstanding season, with a win a home on Sunday.
