B-C is introducing a new camping fee for out-of-province residents looking to make use of provincial campgrounds.
The Ministry of Environment and Parks says the new fee will be active beginning on May 15th, when non-B-C residents will be assessed a 20-dollar surcharge for staying at 59 high-demand parks.
The fee also applies to four popular backcountry parks, including Garibaldi, Golden Ears and Joffre Lakes.
General fees for B-C residents have also been increased, with an average jump of about 13-dollars per night for the high-demand and backcountry parks where the out-of-province surcharge will be assessed.
