This Sunday will be the last time British Columbians have to adjust their clocks for a bi-annual time change.
Premier David Eby made the announcement Monday that the province is making a shift to permanent daylight time.
“Every parent knows that changing clocks twice a year causes a significant amount of chaos on already busy lives. British Columbians have been clear that seasonal time changes do not work for them,” Eby said, in a statement.
“This decision isn’t just about clocks. It’s about making life easier for families, reducing disruptions for businesses and supporting a stable, thriving economy. I am hopeful that our American neighbours will soon join us in ending disruptive time changes.”
The move makes good on a pledge by Eby’s predecessor John Horgan that dates back to 2019. At the time, Horgan tabled legislation that would pave the way for an end to time changes but stipulated a desire to maintain “alignment” with Washington, Oregon and California.
