DAWSON CREEK - Hunters across British Columbia including those in the Peace Region, can now apply for the province’s 2026 limited-entry hunting draw.
The annual draw is used to manage hunting opportunities in areas where demand exceeds availability, with successful applicants issued authorizations for specific hunts.
The latest regulations include updated hunting opportunities for several species, including moose and caribou in parts of the Peace Region.
Provincial officials say the changes reflect updated wildlife population data, conservation priorities, and input from stakeholders, including First Nations consultations.
The review of limited-entry hunting rules takes place every two years as part of broader efforts to balance wildlife conservation with hunting access across B.C.
Hunters have until June 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. to submit applications through the Wildlife Information and Licensing Data system.
To apply, individuals must be B.C. residents with a valid fish and wildlife ID, and they must be up to date on any mandatory reporting requirements.
Successful applicants will receive authorizations at no additional cost, but must still purchase the appropriate hunting licences before taking part in any hunts.
The province says the draw helps support sustainable wildlife populations while maintaining recreational and economic opportunities, including in northern communities like those in Northeast B.C.
