DAWSON CREEK, B.C. - The Dawson Creek Community Christmas Food Drive is preparing for its annual campaign, with organizers hoping residents will help stock local food bank shelves ahead of the holiday season.
The week-long food drive runs from November 8 to 14 and will see volunteers collecting food and cash donations at participating businesses throughout the city, including Safeway, No Frills, Save-On-Foods, Co-op and Wright’s Food Services.
Donations raised during the campaign will support two Dawson Creek food banks.
“We are doing this to help the two food banks in Dawson Creek that are struggling under the weight of the current economy,” said Alex Reschny.
Organizers say demand for food bank services remains high, making community support especially important as the holiday season approaches.
In addition to donations, the Christmas Food Drive is also seeking volunteers to help operate collection stations throughout the week.
Organizers are working to fill about 280 volunteer positions, with each shift lasting two hours.
Residents can support the campaign by donating non-perishable food items or making a financial contribution at participating locations during the November 8 to 14 food drive.
