An Amber Alert issued early Thursday morning was cancelled for Western Canada on Friday afternoon.

Alberta RCMP say the alert was cancelled for Alberta and British Columbia.

However, the 4 individuals connected to the alert are still missing, according to Police.

Mounties say officers continue to investigate the abduction of the young boy.

The boy was taken Tuesday from the hamlet of Valhalla Centre, roughly 63 kilometres northwest of Grande Prairie, Alta., near the B.C. border.

Mounties said, “This alert was cancelled as there is no reasonable expectation the public, in Alberta, will be able to action the instructions in the alert.”

Police did not provide details or answer phone calls seeking clarification.

CJDC TV News has taken down identifying information of the group involved.
