The District of Tumbler Ridge has announced the re-opening of the community centre that has been closed since February 5th.

The community centre has now re-opened after what was initially anticipated to be a two-day shutdown to repair a heating issue.

The closure affected all facilities within the centre, including the daycare space, fitness rooms, curling rink, and library. It also serves as a warming centre for those in need of reprieve from the cold.

The district said that all services have now been restored with the exception of the pool, which remains closed for maintenance.

Council approved up to $300,000 to cover the cost of a new boiler and heater rentals necessary to get the facility operational again.

The district thanked the public for their understanding and patience during the prolonged closure.
