Advance voting opens Wednesday across Peace Region for civic elections

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - Advance voting is about to get underway across the Peace Region as residents get an early opportunity to cast their ballots in the 2026 General CIvic Elections.

Voters in Fort St. John, Taylor and Dawson Creek can head to the polls Wednesday, October 7, ahead of general voting day later this month.

In Fort St. John, advance voting is being held at the Fort St. John Legion.

Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a second advance voting day scheduled for October 14. General voting day will also be held at the Legion on October 17.

Meanwhile, voters in Taylor can cast their ballots at Taylor Community Hall, located at 9896 Cherry Avenue West, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the community’s advance voting opportunity. General voting will also take place there on October 17.

In Dawson Creek, advance voting is taking place in the Upper Lobby of the Ovintiv Events Centre from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents will have a second advance voting opportunity on October 14 before general voting day on October 17.

The City is also encouraging residents to take advantage of free transit service available during regular weekday operating hours on voting days to help people get to and from the polls.

The 2026 local elections will determine mayors, councillors, school trustees, and regional district representatives across the province.

Election officials are encouraging eligible voters to take advantage of advance voting to avoid potential lineups on general voting day.

General voting day across the Peace Region is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
