FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A $90,000 donation from LP Building Solutions has helped bring new diagnostic equipment to Fort St. John Hospital, giving local physicians faster access to critical test results and helping patients receive care closer to home.
The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation announced the hospital has acquired a new osmometer, a specialized laboratory device used to measure the concentration of substances in bodily fluids.
The equipment is used in diagnosing and monitoring patients with serious and complex medical conditions.
According to the foundation, test samples previously had to be sent to Dawson Creek for analysis, with results often taking two to three days to return.
Hospital staff can now perform the testing locally, reducing wait times from days to minutes.
The foundation says the new equipment will help doctors make faster and safer treatment decisions in life-threatening situations, while also reducing avoidable emergency transfers and providing additional support for the hospital’s intensive care team.
Hospital officials say the investment will improve patient care in the community for years to come by ensuring timely access to important diagnostic information close to home.
The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation thanked LP Building Solutions for supporting the purchase and helping expand local health-care capabilities.
