A 19-year-old woman from Grande Prairie has finished the run of her life on Saturday. Nicole Troyer ran across the province of Alberta to raise awareness for mental health.
Troyer started running from Lloydminster on June 10th, with the goal of reaching Demmitt near the BC Alberta border.
She reached her final destination Saturday night, 18 days after starting this 790 km trek. Her family, as well as people from the area, were waiting for her at the finish line.
Nicole’s father followed her on her journey to inspire her. He asked people on social media to support Nicole with a wave or a honk when seeing her on the road, or to walk, run, or bike by her side.
Nicole’s goal was to run, bike, and walk across Alberta to raise awareness mental health. All the funds raised during her “Miles For Smiles” journey are going to the Mountain Services Society of the North, in Grande Prairie.
