The mother of Tumbler Ridge victim Maya Gebala says the 12-year-old girl suffered a setback and did not undergo a scheduled skull-repair surgery last week.
Cia Edmonds says in a social media post that doctors found an abscess that required further medical care and did not go through with the surgery.
Gebala was shot in the head and neck during the mass shooting on February 10th that saw 8 people murdered, before the shooter killed herself.
Maya underwent emergency surgery in mid February due to fluid build up in her brain, which was a success.
