The father of a 12-year old girl who was critically injured in the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting says, she’s making progress in hospital.
David Gebala posted videos on Facebook showing Maya Gebala enjoying some of her favourite TV shows, from her hospital bed in Vancouver.
David said, “It’s been so special to see her have a sense of familiarity and comfort.”
David listed several examples of Maya’s improving condition including clearer CT scans, more physical movement and her left eye reacting to light writing. “it might seem little but it’s a lot for her,” said David.
Maya underwent emergency surgery in mid February due to fluid build up in her brain, which was a success.
Gebala was shot in the head and neck during the mass shooting on February 10th that saw 8 people murdered, before the shooter killed herself.
