The Northern Health region is reporting 12 new confirmed cases of the measle, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s latest update.
The BC CDC said the total cases in the region for the year has grown to 122. The agency has reported in the past 16 probable cases in Northern BC.
There are six active cases of the measles currently across British Columbia, all of which are from Northern BC. The total of measles cases in BC is now 174.
Medical experts say the best way to protect yourself after exposure to measles is to get vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. You can contact your local health unit to schedule a vaccination appointment.
