FORT ST. JOHN - 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John has announced the three local groups selected for its upcoming giving event on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at The Lido Theatre.
100 Women Who Care Fort St. John is a collective giving initiative that brings women together twice a year — in March and September — to support local non-profit groups.
Organizers say the idea is straightforward as each attendee contributes $100, and together the group donates whatever is collected that evening to a single local organization.
Since launching in 2017, the group has hosted 11 events and raised a total of $188,230 for community organizations.
The March event will mark the 12th edition. This year’s nominated organizations are:
- KidSport – North Peace
- Fort St. John Men’s Shed
- Friends of the Fort St. John Public Library
Each nominated group will have seven minutes to present their cause and explain how they would use the funds. After all three presentations, attendees will cast their votes.
Votes are counted during the event, and the winning organization is announced that same evening.
The event is entirely volunteer-run, and no funds are kept for operating costs.
“This event only works because of the generosity of our sponsors and our volunteers,” says Tara Waddy, steering committee member. “Thanks to partners like The Lido Theatre and the North Peace Community Foundation, we’re able to ensure that every single dollar collected from attendees goes directly to the local group that’s chosen.”
Over the years, the event has built a loyal and committed community of supporters.
“We have women who mark this night in their calendars months in advance,” says Annette Lang. “They see it as a fun and meaningful way to give back, reconnect with friends, and support local causes. The one-hour format makes it easy for busy women to participate, but it still creates a really powerful sense of connection.”
The three nominated groups are selected by the steering committee based on clear criteria.
“All of the groups must be local, and the funds raised have to create a direct local impact,” explains Alisha Cobbett. “We want to make sure that the money raised in this room stays in this community and supports organizations that are doing important work right here in Fort St. John.”
Even for organizations that do not receive the final donation, organizers say the event often leads to lasting benefits.
“We’ve seen time and time again that even groups that don’t win still gain something really valuable,” says Estefania Albornoz. “They get a platform to share what they do, and very often attendees reach out afterward to offer support, donate directly, or volunteer. In that sense, everyone walks away a winner.”
The winning group will receive the full amount raised that night.
