The Fort St. John non-profit group 100 Women Who Care raised over $10,000 for a local organization at their latest event.
100 women came together on September 23 at the Lido Theatre, donating $10,100 to the Fort St. John Canadian Legion Branch 102.
Estefania Albornoz, one of 100 Women Who Care, said the Legion was awarded the funds to support its important work in the community.
She added that the group has raised $188,230 since its inauguration.
The event also served as a platform for local groups to highlight the programs and services they offer in the community.
The Fort St. John Literacy Society promoted its programs to support literacy for all individuals, requesting funding to continue for another year.
The Fort St. John Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 asked for support to cover essential operating costs, allowing them to continue serving community members in need.
The Fort St. John Seniors’ Care Foundation highlighted the support it offers to local seniors through weekly entertainment and basic care.
“We are proud of the way our community shows up for each other,” said the organizing committee.
The next event takes place on March 10 at the Lido Theatre. Organizers said nominations are now open for local groups and charities seeking funding.
