DAWSON CREEK -- A new warming centre opened in Fort St. John on Friday.

The City of Fort St. John received government funding in late August, to create this centre.

The city says it took a few months to get everything in place.

The centre is a place for people to warm up during these frigid months.

Those in need are able to get warm, eat, wash up and rest, when they need to.

This new centre is a joint effort between the City of Fort St. John, Community Bridge and Urban Matters.

Donations of warm clothes, foam mats, games and snacks are being accepted.

The warming centre is located at 10067-100 Avenue.
