DAWSON CREEK -- A new hotel has opened in Dawson Creek following major delays to the covid-19 pandemic.
Staybridge Suites celebrating its grand opening today at 11 a.m. The Mayor of Dawson Creek Darcy Dober attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with other city officials.
The hotel is located just off the Alaska Highway by 13th Street. It features complimentary breakfast, a pool, a fitness centre and meeting facilities. However, Owner Raj Singh says the pool will open in a couple of months but he’s still excited to offer tourists a new place to stay.
“It’s good for the city, and we needed a new hotel. As you know, there's a lot of new business coming to the city,” says Singh. “The last hotel has been here for over ten years. So we're excited to be the newest hotel in town.”
He says the new hotel will be Dawson Creek’s first upscale hotel that offers options for extended or short stays.
The building has been under construction since late 2019.
