DAWSON CREEK -- A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive following a crash in Dawson Creek over the weekend.

The incident occurred just after 11:30 AM on Saturday. Video footage shared on social media shows the motorcycle allegedly speeding down Alaska Avenue at 8th Street before colliding with a red truck turning onto 103rd Avenue.

The impact threw the rider off the bike, scattering debris across the street with bystanders quickly rushing to assist the injured rider.

Dawson Creek RCMP confirmed that the motorcyclist was transported to the hospital for treatment and received multiple tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The driver of the truck was unharmed.
